Although Cogan House Township has, for many years, had a crime watch program in place it was recently amended. Now known as the “Neighborhood Crime Watch Program” it was adopted by the Cogan House Township Supervisors and became effective as of September 10, 2007. The current program is under the umbrella of Homeland Security and falls under the responsibilities of the Lycoming County Emergency Management Agency.
Signs have been erected at the boundaries of Cogan House Township letting people know that a “neighborhood crime watch” is in effect here.
The purpose of the program is to help prevent crime within our township and to make officials aware of suspicious activity in the community. To that end, a team of “watchers” have been established. They are from various geographic areas within the township. These individuals have agreed to be “on call” at any time should a resident need to report suspicious activity, or need a response to questions about the neighborhood crime watch program. Print off this list and keep it near your telephone for quick reference.
