The Coldwater Heritage Partnership is a cooperative initiative among Pennsylvania Trout Unlimited, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Foudation for Pennsylvania Watersheds.  Grant recipients were acknowledged at the 2010 Keystone Coldwater Conference held on February 20th in State College.

"Local grassroots conservation efforts are responsible for the return of healthy waterways in Pennsylvania," said DCNR acting Secretary, John Quigley. "But the work is far from over, with many streams still facing threats and degradation.  This partnership provides the much-needed funding to continue the long term stewardship of our world-class coldwater streams."  Funded organizations will be responsible for creating a Coldwater Conservation plan that:

      1. Gathers existing data about the coldwater ecosystem

      2. Identifies potential impacts, threats, problems and opportunities to our coldwater streams

      3. Formulate a plan of action for proposed conservation and protection strategies

      4. Builds community awareness and support for the conservation of our coldwater streams.

In awarding the $5,000 grant to Larrys Creek W A, John Arway, Executive Director with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission said, "This type of grassroots conservation work is vital for the future of the state's coldwater streams and wild trout fisheries.  We look forward to seeing these conservation plans developed and implemented"

Thank-you for all your support!
